Cosplay is a shortened form of two words – costume and play. The early 90s saw the rising of cosplay into popular culture, although it probably originated initially in Japan. To some, cosplaying is a hobby. To others, cosplaying is a lifestyle. Whether you have participated in cosplay or not, cosplay has become prevalent in today’s society. It is of my own opinion that cosplay is not merely costuming, but a unique form of performance art. It is most widely associated with movie, anime, video games, and most things that are geeky.
Our cosmanles store reached out to my social networks and asked an essential question of cosplayers: “Why do YOU cosplay?” I received a lot of responses. Some friends say that like cosplay because they like video game characters and further like the cosplay. Some friends say their childhood is lonely, through cosplay, they met a lot of people and made friends with them. Some friends like cosplay, it makes themselves more confident, more courageous face his life.
And what about you? Why do you cosplay? Why do you NOT cosplay? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Come to join us!
